Jane C Oragui, a self-taught artist, originates from a humble African family and creates textured pieces using Gesso, rice or powder. Her artistry lies in her unique ability to bring a surface to life, leaving onlookers intrigued by the medium’s rough texture. The themes of growth, grace, and glory echo strongly throughout her work, each piece a testament to life’s journey and its many transformations. This painting is created using the same materials, colours and reference image, Each paining will be a piece in its own right with marks variating slightly. In my vibrant artwork, I’ve harnessed the fluid dynamism and grace of koi fish, a symbol of luck and perseverance. The swirls of bold, textured dots against a serene turquoise backdrop are inspired by Aboriginal art techniques, blending tradition with abstract expression. This piece speaks to the interplay of fate and self-made destiny, and is designed to infuse any space with a sense of peace and the courage to flow with life’s currents
